In the closest finish ever for the No.1 spot on the Blu-ray sales chart,
Battle: Los Angeles finished the week on top. Sony's sci-fi actioner might not have delivered box office success, but it did manage to score strong sales for Blu-ray as it dethroned last week's champ
True Grit by a margin of only 1%.
Battle finished its first week of home video release with 59% of total package unit sales coming from Blu-ray.
True Grit dropped one spot spot to No.2 on the blu-ray sales chart, but remained No. 1 in the overall sales chart. Aggressive promotions at several retailers had the price for the
True Grit combo pack at $14.99 giving the release a sales boost in its second week of release. The Coen Brother's adaptation of Charles Portis' 1968 novel continued to generate significant sales for Blu-ray as 57% of its total package media sales were attributed to the format.
Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy climbed two spots to No. 3 on the Blu-ray sales chart. Based on the strength of its Blu-ray sales (98%), the set became the No.6 overall seller for the week. The
Back to the Future Trilogy first released in Blu-ray on October 2010, but aggressive pricing on the set has been driving Blu-ray sales for the last two weeks.
Bowing is at No.4 on both the Blu-ray and the overall sales charts was
Hall Pass. The Warner Home Video comedy received 40% of all package media sales for Blu-ray. Another new home video release,
Red Riding Hood, debuted at No. 3 on the overall sales chart and No. 5 on the blu-ray sales chart(36% of all unit sales).
