Director Jon Favreau has confirmed that the world premiere of his upcoming sci-fi/western mash-up Cowboys and Aliens will take place at this year's Comic-Con. The screening will be held on Saturday July 23rd at the San Diego Civic Theater. It was rumored that the event could take place at San Diego's Petco Park, but a tweet by Favreau has revealed that the location of the screening will in fact be at the nearby Civic Theater with tickets being available to 2,000 fans. How the tickets will be distributed has yet to be announced.

According to the LA Times, the director was quoted as saying, "Cowboys & Aliens will be at Comic-Con. And not only are we going to premiere it there, we're going to find a way to include as many of the fans as possible... That's where it all started, and I want to give back. They should have the opportunity to see it first."

Cowboys and Aliens is based on the graphic novel by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell. The film made a big splash at last year's Comic-Con when Harrison Ford made a rare fan panel appearance. Cowboys and Aliens is set for a nationwide U.S. release on July 29th.
