Director Savage Steve Holland's cult 1985 comedy Better Off Dead will receive a high-definition upgrade to Blu-ray this August. A semi-autobiographical take on Holland's own youth, the film stars John Cusack (Say Anything...) as a teenager who turns to suicide after his girlfriend (Amanda Wyss, A Nightmare on Elm Street) dumps him, only to find his self-destructive efforts thwarted by crazed paper boys, Howard Cosell-quoting drag racers, and his own ineptitude.
Paramount Pictures has not announced any technical or supplemental details for the Blu-ray; the previous DVD edition was a barebones affair. Check back later for further information.
