Disney's The Muppets Teaser Trailer Released (Updated)

Disney has released a teaser trailer for The Muppets, which they are playfully marketing under the title Green with Envy. The Walt Disney Co. acquired the rights to the Muppets from The Jim Henson Company back in 2004, and this new live-action film will mark the first major effort by the company to reintroduce the characters back into the spotlight.

This effort is being headed by Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), who is producing and co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek). Segel will also star in the film alongside Amy Adams (Enchanted) and Chris Cooper (Adaptation). The Muppets is being directed by James Bobin, who is best known for co-creating the HBO musical comedy series Flight of the Conchords.

While the trailer does little to reveal the movie's plot, an official synopsis has Gary (Segel) and Mary (Adams) teaming up with Kermit and the Muppets to stop the greedy plans of oil tycoon Tex Richman (Cooper). The movie features several original musical numbers and will be preceded by a new short from Pixar starring the Toy Story characters.
