Owners of the 70th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of
Pinocchio who have sent in their defective disc to Disney for replacement can rest assured. Blu-ray.com staff reviewer Jeffrey Kauffman has now received a replacement disc for
Pinocchio and he can confirm the audio has been fixed. It may take a while for your replacement disc to arrive, but be assured once it does, the relatively minor audio issue has been repaired.
As previously
reported, Walt Disney Studios is offering replacement Blu-ray discs for owners of the 70th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of Pinocchio. The problem occurs at about 33 seconds into the song "Give a Little Whistle," and involved two brief bits of missing audio during the song, with Jiminy's response to Pinocchio having been omitted on some pressings.
Eagle eyed consumers will notice some small changes in the label of the replacement disc. Two green insignias are missing and the colors of the silkscreened image aren't quite as robust as on the original pressing. You can request your replacement disc by one of two methods, email or phoning. Because processing time is more efficient, Disney prefers you email them at:
http://www.disneystudioshelp.com/Contact_Us.html
Please provide your Full Name, Phone Number, Mailing Address, Blu-ray Stock Number, and Blu-ray Lot Number (Found on the shiny side of the disc beginning with BVDL).
You can also phone Disney at 1-800-723-4763. In either case, Disney will provide you with a postpaid mailing label (but no envelope) with which to return your defective disc.
