Animating humans is tricky business. If you animate them too realistic, the human brain will be overly critical of the image and the viewer will not be able to emerge him/herself into the story. If the models aren't realistic enough, then the audience would be unable to connect with the lead character. Pixar was able to find that happy medium, allowing viewers to emerge themselves into story of an aged superhero looking to return to glory while identifying the his vulnerabilities of being a father. The Incredibles on Blu-ray, a classic in its own right for both technical achievement and story.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will get a special Friday Blu-ray release this week, allowing fans revisit the first part of the finale before the final Harry Potter film is released this July. At this point, it really goes without saying that if you have invested this much into a series, you're going to see it through to the end. Luckily, fans are rarely disappointed with Warner's releases, so it's an easy purchase for a weekend screening.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Blu-ray review , staff reviewer Kenneth Brown commented, "Slower than most of its predecessors, less fantasy-oriented than other entries, and more character-driven than anything the series has delivered thus far, the first half of the Potter finale is as divisive as it is unique and powerful. But rest easy, dear readers. Warner's Blu-ray release isn't nearly as divisive. While its supplemental package will attract some criticism (especially when the film's Ultimate Edition is announced), its AV presentation is faithful to a fault, notably cinematic and utterly absorbing."
It's hard to know what Gwyneth Paltrow was thinking when she signed up for
Country Strong, but she had to see this coming a country mile away. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 21% and a $20M domestic gross, the film catered to a single demographic, and was unable to branch beyond its soul, unlike the more successful
Walk the Line. If you found yourself tapping your toes in the theater, be sure to pick up the film on Blu-ray. All others are advised to give this one a rent before you bite the bullet.
Criterion buffs will be glad to hear that both
Le Cercle Rouge and
White Material are out today on Blu-ray, and ready to add to your collection.
