Alliance Films and Miramax announced that they have renewed their long-standing film distribution partnership. Under the agreement, Alliance has extended its distribution rights in all media (including Blu-ray) in Canada. Alliance will also distribute all of Miramax's new films in Canada, starting with John Madden's
The Debt and the Guillermo Del Toro-produced
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.
Alliance has already released on Blu-ray many Miramax titles that Disney has not released on Blu-ray in the US, including Academy Award winners such as
The English Patient,
Good Will Hunting and
Life Is Beautiful.
Mike Lang, CEO of Miramax, said: "We are very pleased to continue Miramax's long-standing partnership with Alliance on our library titles and to expand the relationship to encompass new theatrical releases. Alliance is one of the top distribution companies in the world and their team brings a combination of experience and innovative thinking that fits perfectly with Miramax's mission. We are confident that together we will maximize the value of our library and new releases, especially as new digital platforms gain traction."
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the new Miramax team," said Charles Layton, President of Alliance Films. "We know this outstanding library well. Not only does it hold great value as-is, we know that Mike Lang and his team will continue to build on the Miramax standard."
