After the recent Blu-ray announcement of
Black Swan, all of the award-winning English-language feature films at the latest Academy Award ceremony are released or announced on BD – this time including even the feature documentary.
The King's Speech (a Weinstein Company film, announced on Blu-ray by Anchor Bay for April 19) carried the day, with four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor (Colin Firth).
The list of winners, with Blu-ray availability data if appropriate, is as follows:
- Alice in Wonderland (Disney, BD available now): art direction; costume design
- Black Swan (Fox, BD announced for March 29): actress in a leading role (Natalie Portman)
- The Fighter (Paramount, BD announced for March 15): actor in a supporting role (Chistian Bale); actress in a supporting role (Melissa Leo)
