Yes,
Due Date is directed by Todd Philips, the same guy who directed the laughfest that is
The Hangover. And yes, it stars Zach Galifianakis, who also starred in
The Hangover - but that is where the similarities end. Much as Apatow's
Funny People turned off as many fans as it created, today's Blu-ray release of
Due Date will likely have the same effect – fan's looking for
The Hangover 2 are advised to wait a few more months, but those open to a new comedy experience will sure to be entertained.
Staff reviewer Kenneth Brown commented in his
Due Date Blu-ray review , "Due Date has it all: great cast, funny script, surprising tone and plenty of laughs. Unfortunate comparisons to The Hangover are inevitable, but Phillips's buddy comedy stands strong on its own." He continues, "Its video transfer is as close to perfect as near-perfect comes, its DTS-HD Master Audio surround track is excellent and a slim supplemental package is its only weakness."
Animated superhero features seem to have endless appeal. Whether you are an avid comic book reader or just reliving that part of your life when you could strap on a cape and run around your house saving the cat from a most certain perils. Today, Warner is releasing
All-Star Superman on Blu-ray, a feature that may just bridge that gap from comic book geek to general audiences. Or maybe not. But for fans of superhero films – of all kinds – its worth a look as you may find something new to add to your Blu-ray library.
For the
All-Star Superman Blu-ray review, staff reviewer Kenneth Brown commented, "All-Star Superman may just be the best DCU animated original movie to date. At the very least, it's the best Superman feature Timm and his team have put together." He continued, "While its video encode isn't without the usual flaws, it offers a fairly impressive image (that handily bests its DVD cousin), an excellent DTS-HD Master Audio surround track and a strong selection of top-drawer special features."
With a variety of animated techniques and an explosive soundtrack,
FLCL: Complete Collection is Anime unlike most Anime. The series was originally developed as a way for the producers to experiment with different methods of animation (which it pokes fun at), and features a soundtrack full of tracks for a then relatively unknown bad, The Pillows. The result is one of the most popular Anime series to come across the Pacific, and a treat to be coming to Blu-ray today.
When the Christopher Nolan film
Memento was first released on Blu-ray, it was one of the first Blu-ray titles to be released by Sony. Since then, Blu-ray has advanced and distribution has transitioned to Lionsgate, who are re-releasing the film on Blu-ray today in honor of the 10 year anniversary of its theatrical release. Fortunately for fans, today's release is head-and-shoulders above the original release, and fans shouldn't hesitate to double-dip.
Staff reviewer Jeffrey Kaufman commented in his
Memento: 10th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray review , "This is one of the most challenging films of at least the last decade, bracing in both its architecture and the implications of its purposefully ambiguous plot. Virtually pitch perfect in every way, with a unique and very engaging marriage of style and substance, the film finally has Blu-ray release worthy of its impressive pedigree."
