After first saying that Formula One would be saddled with standard-definition broadcast until 2012, Formula One Management has finally yielded and announced that the 2011 championship would be broadcast in HD. Although Blu-ray has not been mentioned at the time, this opens the door to the release of a highlights BD at the end of the season, like the one already available (in the UK only) for the
MotoGP 2010 championship.
