Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has confirmed that in the fall of 2011 it will release two of its modern animated classics as 3D Blu-ray / 2D Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy combo packs:
The Lion King 3D and
Beauty and the Beast 3D. As previously reported (see Blu-ray.com,
September 2, 2010), both movies had been converted to 3D with a view to a theatrical release.
Other Disney movies mentioned as coming soon to 3D Blu-ray include
Bolt (already released on 3D BD
overseas),
Chicken Little,
G-FORCE,
Meet the Robinsons and
The Nightmare Before Christmas. The studio announced plans to release "at least 15 of its films" for in-home viewing on Blu- ray 3D in 2011.
