An early announcement to French retailers indicates that on February 16, 2011 Fox Pathé Europa will release David Lynch's disturbing crime thriller
Blue Velvet. There is no information regarding technical specifications, bonus features or region coding at this time, or whether a US release by MGM might be also in the cards.
France is one of the countries were David Lynch is most highly appreciated, and that reflects upon the titles available on Blu-ray. Whereas the US gets a grand total of one Lynch movie on BD (and not one of his most memorable), France already has six:
The Elephant Man,
Dune,
Wild at Heart,
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,
Lost Highway and
Mulholland Drive. Once
Blue Velvet comes out, only three of his feature films will still be pending a French release:
Eraserhead, The Straight Story and
Inland Empire (which was
released in the UK by Optimum).
