Sony Pictures has announced that on January 25, 2011, it will release the 1981 animated movie
Heavy Metal. This anthology film is based on stories from the science fiction/fantasy comics magazine of the same title (itself an adaptation of the French magazine
Métal Hurlant). It features animated segments based on work by various writers and artists, including Dan O'Bannon, Richard Corben, Juan Giménez and Bernie Wrightson.
