Cinram GmbH has announced the installation of a third Blu-ray replication line in its plant in Aachen, Germany. After this line is operational (which is expected for the end of October), production capacity will increase to 45,000 BDs per day. The replication line is manufactured by Singulus and involved an investment of about 1.5 million euros. It will be used to manufacture BDs for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, among other clients.
Earlier this year, Cinram had suffered a serious blow when Warner Home Video terminated its service agreements with the replicator (see Blu-ray.com,
February 2). As a consequence, the company had to cut more than 480 jobs in June.
