At the CEDIA fair, Sharp is introducing two Blu-ray Disc players with support for the Blu-ray 3D specification and streaming, under models
BD-HP80U and
BD-HP90U. The electronics maker also unveiled its first 3D LCD TVs, in 60-inch and 52-inch screen sizes, with a unique on-glasses 3D-2D conversion feature, and the first 1080p 3D DLP projector for the home.
Player features include:
- Wireless LAN Ready
- DIVX HD / AVCHD / MP3 / JPEG file playback
- Netflix / VUDU / Pandora streaming
- 75mm VESA mounting patterns for easy and flexible installation
The BD-HP90U can also operate horizontally or vertically (with a supplied stand) and has a RS232 port control so it can be operated by universal remote control systems.
They will be available in September for MSRPs of $499.99 (BD-HP90U) and $429.99 (BD-HP80U).
Each Sharp 3DTV comes with two pairs of special active-shutter glasses, which feature a unique option: they are equipped with a 2D-to-3D conversion button that lets the viewer choose to watch content in either 3D or 2D mode. So if one of the viewers doesn't want to view the movie in 3D, or starts feeling uncomfortable, he or she can switch to 2D viewing at the push of a button.
They are available now for MSRPs of $5,299.99 (
LC-60LE925UN) and $4,199.99 (
LC-52LE925UN).
Sharp also entered the 3D projector market with the XV-Z17000. This DLP unit has 1080p resolution and a 30000:1 contrast ratio. It comes bundled with two pairs of active shutter 3D glasses. Availability is expected for the first quarter of 2011; price is still to be announced.
