Three weeks ago (see Blu-ray.com,
August 30), Sony Pictures Home Entertainment had announced
Big Daddy for Blu-ray release on November 9. Now the studio has unceremoniously pulled this Adam Sandler comedy from its schedule. No reason is given for this cancellation, and no new release date is available.
Big Daddy thus joins the ranks of other ill-fated movies that were given a release date (and even sometimes cover art) only to vanish into oblivion later, such as
48 Hrs.,
The Firm,
Legends of the Fall,
Marie Antoinette, or
Meatballs
After this cancellation, SPHE's catalog Blu-ray slate for the next two months (not counting repackaged titles) currently consists of a grand total of one movie:
The Bridge on the River Kwai.
