I was off vacationing in Miami for the past few days, so some CEDIA and Blu-ray news has slipped through the cracks while Iceman and Marwin have been providing you with some in-depth IFA reports. Instead of clogging the front page with news you've probably already seen, I'll just post a list with some links that will sum things up nicely.
- Video Business is reporting that Blu-ray stand-alone player sales are now exceeding HD DVD player sales. We had heard rumblings about this a few weeks back from retailers, but new data proves what most have expected: Blu-ray is picking up the pace, even at a higher price point.
- Sharp used their CEDIA conference to confirm what Iceman reported regarding their upcoming Blu-ray player.
- Pioneer introduced their new BDP-95FD Elite Blu-ray player which will support bitstreaming of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
- Red Dawn was given a release date of November 6th.
- Warner Home Entertainment dated the releases of the Harry Potter films for December 11th.
- ASUS, one of the biggest and most respected PC parts manufacturer, is going to release a Blu-ray drive.
- HiHD has also revealed specs for 'The Fly', 'The Day After Tomorrow', 'From Hell', and 'Edward Scissorhands'.
- The Digital Bits has a list of upcoming Blu-ray releases from Warner. No dates, but some very, very good movies coming soon to a Blu-ray player near you.
- Marantz announced a Profile v1.1 Blu-ray player - the BD8002.
