Grand Canyon Adventure IMAX Documentary Gets 3D Blu-ray

Sony had the first movie on 3D Blu-ray, but the first non-movie stereoscopic Blu-ray for general release in the US will come from Image Entertainment. The IMAX documentary Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk, already available on 2D, will come out on a 3D BD edition on October 26. MSRP for the 3D is $24.98, the same as the 2D.
Grand Canyon Adventure is a native 3D title, as the camera used (which tipped the scales at 300 pounds) captured separate images for the left eye and the right eye on two strips of 15/70 mm film which ran simultaneously through the camera. It was the first IMAX 3D project for renowned IMAX filmmaker Greg MacGillivray.
