Summit Entertainment has announced that it will release the Roman Polanski-directed thriller The Ghost Writer on August 3, on a "single-disc DVD/Blu-ray combo." This is the first time a new release is coming out on this two-sided, two-format disc presentation.
"The Blu-ray/DVD combo disc is a great value to consumers with multiple devices, as well as those current DVD consumers who are planning to convert to Blu-ray in the near future," said Steve Nickerson, president of Summit Home Entertainment.
The two-sided Blu-ray/DVD was first used by Universal on the individual releases of the Bourne movies in January, and later on three catalog movies in April: The Jackal, Out of Africa and Traffic. However, the studio hasn't used that format since.
