The Criterion Collection has posted a note on its website informing that they have been alerted to a manufacturing problem with the Blu-ray edition of Nicolas Roeg's
Walkabout, which affects playback on "a limited number of players." Replacement copies will be made available soon.
The affected players are:
- Insignia NS-2BRDVD
- Memorex MVBD2520
- Pioneer BDP-05FD and BDP-120
- Sony BDP-350 and BDP-360
- Sharp BD-HP22U, BD-HP21U, and BD-HP20U
According to Criterion, the disc will not load at all on the Insignia and Memorex players. On the other players, it does load, but about fifty minutes into the feature, the audio and video begin to skip and stutter.
The studio is working with the pressing plant to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
If you have the Walkabout Blu-ray disc and own one of these players, e-mail
"Jon Mulvaney". You will be notified as soon as replacement copies become available.
In the meantime, this title has been withdrawn from sale at Amazon, but not from Best Buy or other retailers.
