Independent studio AnimEigo is entering the Blu-ray arena with the release of
Shogun Assassin: 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition, which will hit store shelves on August 24.
Shogun Assassin is a US-made condensation of the first two films in the
Lone Wolf and Cub series of Japanese movies, themselves based on a long-running manga series of the same title.
Special features include:
- Audio commentary with producer David Weisman, illustrator Jim Evans, and actor Gibran Evans (the English voice of Daigoro)
- Interview with Samuel L. Jackson about his fondness of Shogun Assassin and other samurai films, shot exclusively for this release in 2009
