Anchor Bay Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray edition of the TV series
Spartacus: Blood and Sand – The Complete First Season, originally aired on Starz, with a release date of September 21, in high-end collectible, book-style packaging. As a Blu-ray exclusive, four episodes have been personally selected as "Directors' Cut Extended Episodes," featuring content too risqué (even for cable TV).
Enhanced digital effects have also been added to several of the episodes.

The first version of the official announcement posted said that video resolution was 1080i, but an updated press release corrects that and confirms that it will be 1080p.
