Avatar Blu-ray French Launch Tonight (Update)

Posted April 20, 2010 08:13 AM by Juan Calonge

As one of the countries in the world where Avatar got the earliest Blu-ray release date, today the studio is holding a special day-long party for the French launch of the Blu-ray of the movie, at the Virgin Megastore on the Champs Elysées, Paris. Film producer Jon Landau will be present to give a press conference and sign the BDs.

Update

Mr. Landau will be unable to attend due to flight disruptions caused by volcanic ash over Europe. He will send a video to be played during the press conference.

The event schedule is as follows:
  • From 2 p.m.: a team of makeup artists will make up fans following exclusive designs, inspired in the Avatar look.
  • 7 p.m.: Dany Sanz, artist for Make-Up Forever, will do live body painting on models costumed by the stylist Eric Tibusch. For 4 hours, fans will witness the work it takes to create a couple of true Na'Vi.
  • 9 p.m.: press conference at the Virgin Café including a video from Jon Landau.
  • 11:30 p.m.: sets of freebies will be handed by Jon Landau himself to the first fans (some of whom will be invited to dress up as Na'Vi).
  • 11:50 p.m.: countdown to the sale on a giant clock, hosted by a presenter from the NRJ network.
  • 0:00 a.m., April 21: sales open.
