Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Jackie Chan action thriller
Shinjuku Incident for home video. However, no Blu-ray version has been announced – only standard-definition DVD. The press release gives no reason for this, nor does it indicate if a Blu-ray edition will be announced in the future.
The better option for those in the US who want to have this movie on Blu-ray is probably importing the
UK release by Showbox Media, as it has a better picture quality than the
Hong Kong release by Joy Sales. The British release is verified to be region-free (although most of the bonus features are in PAL); the Hong Kong release is locked to region A.
Last year, SPHE similarly passed on a hidef version of the high-school noir comedy
Assassination of a High School President, which later got a Blu-ray release (also region-free) in
Germany.
