Sofatronic, a provider for interactive Blu-ray features, is launching the "sofa remote app", a Blu-ray application for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. This app controls BD-Live players of all manufacturers in a home network and offers unique new possibilities. Every Blu-ray can deliver its own look and feel for the application and can customize the feature by the touch of a button. In that way, the company promises, "the fun of viewing a movie on the big screen in the living room can be brought to the small screen in your palm."

The Kaleidoscope platform is offering new opportunities for content owner and C&A facilities to use the advantages and potential of Blu-ray without big efforts and steep learning curves.

"The iPhone is the perfect gadget for controlling and managing Blu-rays. With the sofa remote, the user cannot only navigate his movie viewing, but he can also exchange content between the different devices. Therefore, each content can presented in a perfect way on all screen", says René Baisch, Business Development Director of sofatronic.

By the different possibilities to change the look and feature set of the sofa remote, content provider and authoring facilities can customize the app to a perfect match to any film or theme. It's even possible to integrate advanced features like controllers for games on the Blu-ray, so the sofa remote is offering a highest grade of flexibility. The capability to transfer selected content like ringtones, pictures, trailers or chosen sequences of a movie to a handheld enables a set of new interactive experiences. Beside that, the Apple devices can also be used for typing in text for registration forms, commentaries or search queries and lower the hussle while using a Blu-ray and BD-Live feature.

"By combining the Blu-ray with the touch screen devices built by Apple, we can combine the advantages of both platforms in a perfect way", explains Nils Hammerich, CEO of sofatronic. "Of course we will use our experience of many years in the field of mobile devices and will expand these apps to other platforms. So in a very short time, users of other handhelds with a connection to the Internet will be able to use these features as well."

By adding the sofa remote module to the various other modules already available, sofatronic is enhancing the Kaleidoscope platform once again. This new module is included in all packages available without any additional costs and is also part of the special introduction offer (ending March, 31st.).

More information, details and example applications can be found on the developer portal of sofatronic. The app will be available via the app store very soon.
