Warner Home Video, in conjunction with BBC, has announced the Blu-ray release of the recent smash hit Royal Shakespeare Company production of
Hamlet, starring David Tennant as the Prince of Denmark and Patrick Stewart as Claudius. The release date for this title has been set for May 4, shortly after airing on PBS's
Great Performances.
Special features include:
- Commentary by the director, producer and director of photography
- Behind-the-scenes feature
However, Shakespeare enthusiasts will undoubtedly be disappointed that the studio isn't using this opportunity to also release the 1996 Kenneth Branagh version on Blu-ray.
