UK film distributor Park Circus has announced that its new home entertainment label will launch in the second quarter of 2010 and that it will start with a bang, by being the first to release movies directed by Charlie Chaplin in high definition, licensed from the MK2 library.
The Kid and
The Great Dictator will see the light on Blu-ray on May 10; release details are still undisclosed, but the label claims that both titles have undergone a "full restoration for the digital age."
In the US, The Criterion Collection is reportedly the studio that has won the home video rights to the Chaplin films. In Germany, it is Kinowelt.
