Some owners of the first edition of
Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series had voiced their complaints to Universal Studios Home Entertainment about its bulky and unwieldy packaging. Now that a
new edition with a slimmer packaging has been announced, Universal has emailed them back, offering to send the new packaging.
Universal explains that the new packaging is "comprised of conventional cases regularly used to store DVD or Blu-ray discs", although product images are still unavailable. In the message, the studio also gives instructions about the personal information and proof of purchase required (you must return the front flap -with Cylon face- and top of the Season One package), and the address where the request for new packaging should be sent.
However, a printed copy of the email from Universal must be attached to the correspondence. Therefore, unless this program opens to all, owners of the first edition who want to receive the new packaging should first contact Universal Studios via their
online contact form and wait for a reply from the studio. This offer is limited to consumers with US mailing addresses only.
