Davis-Panzer has set an "estimated" release date of April 30 for the Blu-ray editions of '
Highlander: Season Two' and '
Highlander: Season Three'. While video resolution is currently listed as 720p, the studio has informed TV Shows on DVD that there is "a very good chance that it will be in 1080p" (but still probably an upscale from standard-definition tape, and not a new transfer from film elements). Audio is also being upgraded to DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.
The Blu-ray editions will have the following new and exclusive special features:
Season Two:
- Picture-in-picture commentaries by Adrian Paul for two episodes
- "Back for Seconds": a 30-minute documentary on the making of the show, focusing on the episodes and including never-before-seen interviews with Elizabeth Gracen, Jim Byrnes, Stan Kirsch, Bill Panzer and David Abramowitz
- Photo montage
Season Three
- Picture-in-picture commentaries by various cast and production team members for eight episodes
- "Third Time's a Charm": A 30-minute documentary on the making of the show, focusing on the episodes, including interviews with the production team as well as Jim Byrnes, Elizabeth Gracen, Peter Wingfield, Stan Kirsch and Adrian Paul.
- Photo montage
These box sets can only be purchased through the
Legendary Heroes website.
At the moment, blu-ray.com is the only major BD site to have published a review of the Blu-ray edition of 'Highlander: Season One' – having bought it and paid for it out of its own pocket. To read Kenneth Brown's review of Season One,
