Blu-ray Sales, Dec. 28 2009 – Jan. 3 2010: Hangover Regains Lead (Update)

During the week ended January 3, 2010, Warner Home Video's comedy 'The Hangover', recovered the top-selling spot on Blu-ray, pushing 'District 9' to second place, according to Nielsen VideoScan. In its three weeks on shelves, 'The Hangover' has become the highest-grossing comedy of all time on home video, let alone on Blu-ray, where it has moved 1.5 million units so far (including sales to consumers and for rental). Here is the Blu-ray top 10:

  8. Terminator: Salvation
  9. Public Enemies
  10. Star Trek
Regarding Blu-ray market share for this week's releases, the biggest percentage was for Shane Acker's animated dystopia '9', with 31% of its sales coming from Blu-ray. 'Jennifer's Body' (which didn't make it pas 12th place in the BD sales chart) got 20%, and 'Paranormal Activity', 19%.

Blu-ray Disc revenues for the week were $37.72 million, up 55.06% from the same week last year. Overall packaged media got $252.85 million, up 24.16% year-on-year.
