StudioCanal has announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Tati Collection (1949-1974). The two box set are scheduled to arrive on the market on December 7.

Company description: Following the 2026 retrospective 4K screenings celebrating the life and work of Jacques Tati at La Rochelle Festival, STUDIOCANAL presents TATI, a stunning new seven-disc Collector's Edition boxset featuring restored 4K versions of his complete filmography, on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray.

Part of the new STUDIOCANAL CLASSICS range, the collection celebrates Tati's contribution to cinema, bringing together the films that cemented his reputation as a key figure of 20th-century French cinema and one of the great comedic artists of all time. Renowned for his meticulous visual compositions, inventive use of sound and wonderfully observed humour, Tati transformed the everyday absurdities of modern life into enduring cinematic comedy. From the rural charm of JOUR DE FÊTE to the dazzling modernist world of PLAYTIME, the collection spans decades of filmmaking, following Tati's evolution as a performer, writer and director. His iconic Monsieur Hulot, with his distinctive walk, raincoat and quietly bewildered view of the world, remains one of cinema's most recognisable comic creations.

The TATI collection comprises restorations of six hilarious features: JOUR DE FÊTE (1949), an affectionate portrait of village life, which follows an inept postman inspired to revolutionise his rounds after watching a film about the efficiency of the American postal service; LES VACANCES DE MONSIEUR HULOT (1953), in which Monsieur Hulot's well-intentioned antics gently disrupt the carefully ordered routines of fellow holidaymakers at a seaside resort; Oscar-winning comedy MON ONCLE (1958), which contrasts Hulot's charmingly old-fashioned world with the sterile, gadget-filled modern home of his relatives; the comic masterpiece PLAYTIME (1967), which sees Hulot navigating a labyrinth of glass, steel and modern architecture in a brilliantly choreographed portrait of an increasingly mechanised world; TRAFIC (1971) in which Hulot joins a team travelling to an automobile exhibition in a playful satire of technology, transport and modern convenience; and his final feature PARADE (1974), which celebrates the circus, blending mime and physical comedy with audience participation. Also included is a bonus Blu-ray disc of seven Tati-related short films, plus a carefully curated booklet. Rounding off the collection is the stunning new artwork created by Macha Makeïeff and Paper! Tiger! (Aurélien Farina) for Les Films de Mon Oncle.

The restorations were carried out by L'Image Retrouvée, STUDIOCANAL and Les Films de Mon Oncle, with the support of the CNC.

Synopsis: In 6 feature films and 7 short films, Tati has established his originality as both an actor and director, embodying François the postman and Monsieur Hulot, two comical figures who are on a par with characters created by Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy and Charlie Chaplin. Tati was a formidable inventor of new styles and a master in the art of observing the everyday and the modern, with a critical but humorous approach. From short films to feature films, music hall to road-movie, Jacques Tati draws us into his quirky and poetic universe. Step into the ring to face Roger in Soigne Ton Gauche (Work On Your Left), be invited into the festive Big Top in Parade, pedal faster and faster to deliver the post in L'Ecole des Facteurs (The School for Postmen) and Jour de Fête (The Big Day), embark on a journey across Europe in a revolutionary Renault in Trafic (Traffic), enjoy a well-deserved revitalising holiday with Monsieur Hulot, let Mon Oncle (My Uncle) guide you around the old neighbourhood of Saint-Maur and the ultramodern Arpel villa, and experience a virtual visit of Paris in the incredible PlayTime. Bon voyage.
