Eureka Entertainment has announced its December batch of releases. They are: Black Caesar, Hell Up In Harlem, and The Police Story Trilogy.

The Police Story Trilogy 4K Blu-ray SteelBook

Description:Featuring some of the most dangerous stunts ever performed on camera, the Police Story trilogy represents the pinnacle of Jackie Chan's unique style of Hong Kong action filmmaking. A dazzling blend of gritty action cop drama, impeccably choreographed martial arts sequences and bone-crunching stunt work, this series of films revitalised the Hong Kong action genre and established Jackie Chan as a worldwide superstar.

In Police Story, Chan stars as "super cop" Chan Ka-kui, who faces off against a notorious crime lord in a series of escalating set-pieces that hospitalised several members of the stunt team. Police Story 2 sees Chan demoted to traffic cop after the events of the first film before he is reinstated to the detective unit to tackle a deadly gang of explosive experts in one of the greatest action films ever made. Finally, action superstar Michelle Yeoh joins the series in Police Story 3: Supercop, in which her Inspector Yang Chien-hua teams up with Chan to take down an international drug smuggling ring.

Jackie Chan considers the original Police Story to be his finest film in terms of pure action, while all three entries in the trilogy stand at the pinnacle of genre filmmaking in Hong Kong and consistently appear on lists of the best action movies ever made. Eureka Classics is proud to present all three films from astonishing 4K restorations in limited edition SteelBook packaging.

Black Caesar and Hell Up In Harlem

At the beginning of his long and storied career as a director, the inimitable cult maestro Larry Cohen worked primarily in the crime genre, producing a trio of standout blaxploitation movies. The first – his debut – was Bone, swiftly followed by two films for American International Pictures that would firmly establish his reputation: Black Caesar and Hell Up in Harlem, in which Fred Williamson's hardened gangster works his way to the top of the New York underworld.

In Black Caesar, we meet Tommy Gibbs (Williamson), a criminal scarred by a childhood encounter with a police officer. As an adult, he has become the leader of a crime syndicate based in Harlem. Determined to grow his criminal empire, he wages war on both the Italian mafia and the NYPD. Gibbs returns in Hell Up in Harlem, in which he attempts to eradicate drug dealers from the streets he grew up on, while battling the corrupt District Attorney who wants to keep them there.

Quintessential examples of 1970s exploitation cinema, Black Caesar and Hell Up in Harlem are bona fide cult classics – and launched Larry Cohen's career in the director's chair, setting him on the path to It's Alive, Q – The Winged Serpent, The Stuff and The Ambulance. Eureka Classics is proud to present both films on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK.
