For the week of September 21st, Walt Disney Home Entertainment and Pixar Animation Studios have a Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for Andrew Stanton's Toy Story 5, featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Conan O'Brien, Greta Lee and Scarlett Spears.

Description: The toys are back in Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, and this time it's Toy meets Tech. Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang's jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad, a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?

Disney and Pixar's 4K UHD release of Toy Story 5 contains Dolby Vision HDR and the film's Dolby Atmos audio. Extras include audio commentary with co-director Kenna Harris, production designer Bob Pauley and VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan. five deleted scenes, four featurettes and a gag reel. New on Blu-ray and 4K UHD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is Sébastien Vanicek's Evil Dead Burn, starring Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Erroll Shand and Maude Davey.

Studio description: EVIL DEAD BURN unleashes the franchise's most savage and terrifying ride to date with an all-new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem. After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life live on… even in death.

Warner's Blu-ray releases of Evil Dead Burn contain the film's Dolby Atmos audio, with Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD edition. Extras include three featurettes. In addition to standard packaging, a Limited Edition 4K UHD / Blu-ray SteelBook will also be available. On the same day, Warner will release an Evil Dead 2-Film Collection (2023-2026) on 4K UHD, bundling in the previous film Evil Dead Rise.

Also coming from Warner is a 4K UHD upgrade for Neil Jordan's Interview with the Vampire (1994), starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, Stephen Rea and Christian Slater. Sourced from a new 4K master, Warner presents Interview with the Vampire with Dolby Vision HDR and a choice of a new Dolby Atmos remix or original DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio. Extras include two new featurettes with Neil Jordan, editor Mick Audsley and production designer Dante Ferretti, new deleted scenes, audio commentary with Jordan, an introduction with Jordan, author / screenwriter Anne Rice and Antonio Banderas, a making of documentary and a 2014 featurette on the vampire fiction phenomenon. New on Blu-ray and 4K UHD from the Criterion Collection is Kleber Mendonça Filho's Nouvelle Vague, starring Guillaume Marbeck, Zoey Deutch, Aubry Dullin, Adrien Rouyard, Antoine Besson and Jodie Ruth-Forest.

Description: It's 1959, and a young Jean-Luc Godard (Guillaume Marbeck) is the only one among his film-critic peers at Cahiers du cinéma not to have made a feature film. Determined to put his revolutionary cinematic ideas into practice, he brings his small crew and two stars—an eager unknown named Jean-Paul Belmondo (Aubry Dullin) and wary Hollywood expat Jean Seberg (Zoey Deutch)—onto the streets of Paris to shoot Breathless, an adventure in unfettered creativity that would soon upend the way movies are made. Sourced from a 4K master supervised and approved by Richard Linklater and director of photography David Chambille, Criterion presents Nouvelle Vague with DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio (as well as English descriptive audio) and in SDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include audio commentary with Linklater, a making of documentary, interviews with Linklater and actors Zoey Deutch, Aubry Dullin and Guillaume Marbeck, an "audiovisual dossier" on the real-life figures depicted in the film, by critic Farran Smith Nehme, Linklater's pre-rehearsal manifesto, read by Zoey Deutch, a selection of trailers from French New Wave films and a trailer for the feature. Also included are "essays by critic Nick James and co-screenwriter Vince Palmo and an introduction by Linklater".

Also new on Blu-ray and 4K UHD from the Criterion Collection is Kleber Mendonça Filho's The Secret Agent (O Agente Secreto), starring Wagner Moura, Robson Andrade, Rubens Santos, Licínio Januário, Joálisson Cunha and Marcelo Valle.

Description: With an electrifying blend of kinetic punch and elegiac historical sweep, Kleber Mendonça Filho connects life under Brazil's twentieth-century military dictatorship to the living present, delivering a kaleidoscopic period thriller pulsing with resonance. In 1977, under the alias Marcelo, a man (Wagner Moura) arrives in the city of Recife to try to make a fresh start with his young son. However, the threat of violence immediately encroaches, while around him swirl corrupt cops, grimy hit men, haunted exiles, and a wild urban legend that ignites a public frenzy. Sourced from a 4K master approved by Kleber Mendonça Filho, Criterion presents The Secret Agent with DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio, optional, newly-translated English subtitles and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras span two Blu-ray discs and include Mendonça Filho's feature-length companion film Pictures of Ghosts (Retratos Fantasmas) (2023), a making of documentary, new interviews with director of photography Evgenia Alexandrova and sound mixer Cyril Holtz, a new video essay featuring Mendonça Filho, deleted scenes, "archival material that inspired the film, with commentary by Mendonça Filho" and a trailer. Also included is an essay by film programmer and curator Dennis Lim.

New on 4K UHD combo pack from GKIDS is Kiyotaka Oshiyama's anime film Look Back (ルックバック) featuring the voices of Yuumi Kawai, Mizuki Yoshida, Yôichirô Saitô, Kôta Oka, Kureha Maki and Kôya Yoshihashi.

Description: Popular, outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her funny comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher asks her to share the space with Kyomoto, a truant recluse whose beautiful artwork sparks a competitive fervor in Fujino. What starts as jealousy transforms when Fujino realizes their shared passion for drawing.

Based on the acclaimed manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of "Chainsaw Man", Look Back captures the highs and lows of pursuing artistic excellence and the special bonds formed through creative collaboration. The heart-wrenching story is the stunning feature-length directorial debut from Kiyotaka Oshiyama that will leave you in tears and inspire you to chase your own artistic dreams.

GKIDS' 4K UHD combo pack of Look Back contains audio commentary, interviews with the director and cast and with composer Haruka Nakamura, post-screening talks with the director and cast, TV spots, teasers and trailers. Also included is a 160-page book.

Also coming on 4K UHD combo pack from GKIDS is Mamoru Oshii's anime film Angel's Egg (天使のたまご) (1985), featuring the voices of Mako Hyodo, Jinpachi Nezu and Keiichi Noda. Sourced from a new 4K master (supervised by Mamoru Oshii), GKIDS' 4K UHD combo pack of Angel's Egg contains interviews with artist Yoshitaka Amano, Mamoru Oshii and Amano and a Japan Society talk with Amano, as well as a US trailer. Also included is a booklet with a new essay by Danielle Burgos.

Note: GKIDS' 4K UHD combo pack releases of Look Back and Angel's Egg are currently available only in Limited Edition DigiPack packaging and only on the GKIDS website.

New on 4K UHD combo pack from Decal Releasing is Boots Riley's I Love Boosters, starring Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield, Mahdi Cocci, Taylour Paige, Naomi Ackie and Rachel Walters.

Description: A crew of shoplifters led by aspiring designer Corvette (Keke Palmer) aim to boost an entire line from fashion icon Christie Smith (Demi Moore) with the help of retail workers from around the world. It's like community service.

Decal Releasing's 4K UHD combo pack of contains audio commentary with Boots Riley, cast interviews, a making of documentary, a blooper reel, an image gallery, TV spots, a teaser and a theatrical trailer. For a full release breakdown, read Brian Orndorf's 4K UHD review.

New on Blu-ray and 4K UHD from Paramount Home Media Distribution is Michael Tiddes' Scary Movie (2026), starring Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Kenan Thompson.

Description: Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer ("Ghostface"), the Core Four are back in the killer's crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans ("Shorty"), Shawn Wayans ("Ray"), Anna Faris ("Cindy"), and Regina Hall ("Brenda") reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every "final chapter" that absolutely isn't final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. ​Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.

Paramount's Blu-ray releases of Scary Movie contain the film's Dolby Atmos audio, with Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD edition. Extras include four featurettes.

New on Blu-ray from Angel Studios is Jon Erwin's Young Washington, starring William Franklyn-Miller, Mary-Louise Parker, Kelsey Grammer, Andy Serkis and Ben Kingsley.

Description: A single misstep thrusts young George Washington (William Franklyn-Miller) into the center of a global conflict-and onto a collision course with the most dangerous men on the continent. Outranked, outgunned, and far from home, he must navigate the brutal politics of empire and the chaos of a frontier on fire. Angel Studios' Blu-ray of Young Washington contains a historian roundtable, a behind-the-scenes slideshow and trailers.

New on Blu-ray from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is David Wain's Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, starring Zoey Deutch, John Slattery, Ken Marino, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Sabrina Impacciatore and Jon Hamm.

Description: Small town hairdresser Gail Daughtry is engaged to her devoted high school sweetheart, Tom. Her life takes a turn when a trip to a book signing leads to Tom meeting – and sleeping – with his "celebrity pass". Reeling from the betrayal, Gail impulsively joins her friend Otto on a trip to Los Angeles, where a psychic convinces Gail that the only way to save her marriage is to "even the scales" with her own celebrity pass: Jon Hamm. Thus begins an epic journey through Tinseltown as Gail and Otto join forces with a talent agency assistant, a paparazzo, and actor John Slattery, all in the search for Hamm. Along the way, they collide with celebrities and are hunted by a group of Italian assassins as they get ever closer to finding the elusive star.

Also new on Blu-ray from Sony is Outlander: Season Eight (2026). The four-disc set contains all 10 episodes, as well as a featurette, blooper reel and deleted scenes. On the same day, Sony will release a Collector's Edition, which includes collector cards and a 32-page booklet.

Finally for new releases, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release Hayley Kiyoko's Girls Like Girls, starring Maya Da Costa, Myra Molloy, Zach Braff, Levon Hawke, Alozie LaRose and Sierra Sidwell.

Description: Based on writer/director Hayley Kiyoko's hit single and best-selling novel of the same name, and featuring all-new music from Kiyoko, Girls Like Girls is a heartfelt coming-of-age story set over the course of one sun-drenched summer, where new-girl-in-town Coley falls in love for the first time while learning to accept herself along the way.

Turning to catalog titles, Kino Lorber have five releases coming to Blu-ray and 4K UHD. They are:

A new Blu-ray 3D edition of Arch Oboler's The Bubble (1966), starring Michael Cole, Deborah Walley, Virginia Gregg, Johnny Desmond, Olan Soule and Vic Perrin. Previously released in 2014 in a 91-minute version, this new release is 21 minutes longer (bringing the total runtime of the film to 112 minutes) and available in Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray 2D and anaglyphic 3D (requiring red / blue 3D glasses). Extras include audio commentary with Matt Rovner and Mike Ballew, an alternate opening title from the 1976 re-release, Robert Bernier 3D demonstration footage (in 3D), Arch Oboler's radio play Lights Out and both original and re-release trailers.

A 4K UHD box set for the Italo-Crime Collection (1973-1977), which includes Alberto De Martino's two films The Counsellor (Il consiglieri) (AKA Counselor at Crime in the USA) (1973), starring Tomas Milián, Martin Balsam, Francisco Rabal, Dagmar Lassander, John Anderson and Nello Pazzafini and Blazing Magnum (Una Magnum Special per Tony Saitta) (1976), starring Stuart Whitman, John Saxon, Martin Landau, Tisa Farrow, Gayle Hunnicutt and Anthony Forrest, as well as Mario Caiano's Weapons of Death (Napoli spara!) (1978), starring Leonard Mann, Ida Galli, Henry Silva, Jeff Blynn, Adolfo Lastretti and Kirsten Gille. Sourced from new 4K scans of original camera negatives, the three films are presented in SDR on two 4K UHD discs, with a choice of English audio or Italian audio with English subtitles. Extras include new audio commentaries for the films with film historians Steve Mitchell and Troy Howarth (who are joined by fim historian Nathaniel Thompson on Weapons of Death). A third disc is a Blu-ray with Shadows in an Empty Room (an alternate version of Blazing Magnum), video essays by William Webb on The Counsellor and Weapons of Death, interviews with Alberto De Martino and Kim Newman on Blazing Magnum, interviews with Mario Caiano and Leonard Mann on Weapons of Death, English opening credits for Weapons of Death and trailers for all three films, as well as Shadows in an Empty Room. Note that on the same day, Kino will release the three films separately on Blu-ray, discs which have already been reviewed by Svet Atanasov. A remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for Walter Hill's Johnny Handsome (1989), starring Mickey Rourke, Lance Henriksen, Ellen Barkin, Elizabeth McGovern, Forest Whitaker and Morgan Freeman. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, Kino presents Johnny Handsome with a choice of lossless 5.1 or 2.0 audio and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include two new audio commentaries: one with filmmaker Edgar Pablos and film historians Nathaniel Thompson and Howard S. Berger and another with film critics Alain Silver and James Ursini. Also included is a 2026 interview with Elizabeth McGovern, a 2020 interview with Walter Hill and interviews from 2009 with writer Ken Friedman, make-up artist Michael Westmore and stuntman / actor Allan Graf, as well as a theatrical trailer.

A remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for Ernest R. Dickerson's Bulletproof (1996), starring Damon Wayans, Adam Sandler, James Caan, Jeep Swenson, James Farentino and Kristen Wilson. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, Kino presents Johnny Handsome with a choice of lossless 5.1 or 2.0 audio and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include two new audio commentaries: one with Ernest R. Dickerson and entertainment journalists / authors Bryan Reesman and Max Evry and another with action film historian Mike Leeder. Finally this week, Crunchyroll has a 4K UHD release for Makoto Shinkai's anime film Suzume (すずめの戸締まり) (2022), featuring the voices of Nanoka Hara, Hokuto Matsumura, Eri Fukatsu, Shôta Sometani, Sairi Itô and Kana Hanazawa. Crunchyroll presents Suzume with HDR and Japanese: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio (English, French and German audio and subtitles are also offered). Extras include interviews with Makoto Shinkai, a making of documentary, an interview with RADWIMPS, special commemoration videos, a teaser and trailers.
