The Hill

Description: North Africa. World War II. British soldiers on the brink of collapse push beyond endurance to struggle up a brutal incline. It's not a military objective. It's the hill, a man-made instrument of torture, a tower of sand seared by a white – hot sun. And the troops' tormentors are not the enemy, but their own comrades– in–arms. Sean Connery headlines this stark tale of war inside military prison walls. The inmates are soldiers who once defied, rebelled, talked back. The wardens are sadists, who perpetrate cruelty in the name of discipline. The result is shattering as director "Sidney Lumet nails the action…into so taught a frame that an audience can feel every jab in the belly, taste every mouthful of dust" (TIME)

Description: Kay Francis is beguiling as Teri who is breathtakingly beautiful, sinfully wealthy, and utterly bored out of her mind by her elderly, gout-ridden husband. Enter William Powell as a dapper, fastidiously well-mannered bandit who treats a jewelry heist with elegance! When his equally charming cohorts interrupt Teri's afternoon shopping spree, it isn't just the 28-carat Excelsior diamond Powell walks away with. Transfixed by his suave and irresistible wit, Teri willingly becomes an accomplice in her own abduction, discovering that a bit of grand larceny is the perfect cure for marital ennui. Desperate to stall the legal proceedings and win back his furious wife, Steve hatches a wild, final scheme: he will legally play the part of a lunatic. However, Vic quickly discovers that his massive salary comes with an even larger headache: Evan Llewellyn Evans (Sydney Greenstreet), the tyrannical, eccentric, and utterly ruthless tycoon behind Beautee Soap. Tasked with orchestrating a high-stakes marketing campaign that satisfies Evans' bizarre whims, Vic is forced to navigate an industry built on bluster, blackmail, and compromise. The Man Who Would Be King 4K Blu-ray

Description: Based on the beloved novella by Rudyard Kipling, legendary director John Huston fulfilled a 20-year—dream to helm this late-career masterpiece. The Man Who Would Be King earns its crown as a splendid triumph of cinematic storytelling. Academy Award® winners Sean Connery and Michael Caine star as Daniel Dravot and Peachy Carnehan, two rogue, opportunistic former British Army sergeants charting a course through 1880's India. Concluding that the British Empire was built by men like themselves, they travel through the unmapped territories of the Khyber Pass into remote Kafiristan with the intention to conquer warring tribes and install themselves as wealthy kings. Through tactical ingenuity and pure, astonishing luck, Dravot is mistakenly hailed by the high priests as a god and a direct descendant of Alexander the Great. But as the duo gain wealth, temptation and a passion for a beautiful local princess (Shakira Caine) threaten to expose their mortal vulnerabilities, sparking a violent, tragic uprising.

Nominated for four Academy Awards® and featuring Christopher Plummer as Kipling himself, this sweeping, satirical, and delightful cinematic adventure remains a favorite of audiences and critics alike more than 50 years after its debut.

Blackboard Jungle

Description: Robert Dadier is a man eager to make a difference. Or some might say he's a believer in lost causes. Dadier is a new teacher at inner-city North Manual High. Racial and sexual tensions. Violence. Gangs. Apathy. What Blackboard Jungle tackled more than 70 years ago are still hot button issues in schools. Glenn Ford as Dadier clings to his ideals, and pays a price, vying with teen misfits led by Vic Morrow, and, in a star–making performance, a too – cool – to-cope Sidney Poitier. Directed by Richard Brooks, Blackboard Jungle is brisk urgent and powerful. And it starts with the trailblazing hit Rock Around the Clock performed by Bill Haley and the Comets under the main title, said to be the first use of rock 'n' roll in a mainstream motion picture.

Special Features and Technical Specs:
  • NEW 4K RESTORATION FROM THE ORIGINAL CAMERA NEGATIVE
  • Commentary by co-stars, Paul Mazursky and Jamie Farr, Glenn Ford's son, Peter Ford and Assistant Director Joel Freeman

When she relocates to glittery Paris, suave ladies' man Captain Danilo (Maurice Chevalier) sets out in hot pursuit. His mission: avert the homeland's financial ruin by bringing Sonia back on the wings of love. But hang on tight Danilo. Love always flies a delirious course when legendary Ernst Lubitsch, known for sophisticated wit and a style affectionately described as "the Lubitsch touch" is at the helm. And it confirmed what MGM's top brass already knew: Jeanette MacDonald was a major star.
