For the week that ended on August 8th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
Obsession (2025) topped the Blu-ray-only chart for the first time in its fourth week. Made for just $750,000, Curry Barker's second feature film premiered in May 2026 to positive reviews and box office success, grossing over $263 million domestically and over $495 million globally, so far. This week,
Obsession had a strong HD share of 76% and 53% of units sold from the 4K UHD format, enough to also make it the week's top 4K UHD release for the first time.
Dropping to second place on the Blu-ray-only chart in its second week is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Mortal Kombat II. The sequel to surprise hit
Mortal Kombat (2021) opened in May 2026 much like its predecessor did: to mixed reviews but strong box office. While it opened in second place behind
The Devil Wears Prada 2, eventually, the film grossed over $79 million domestically and over $129 million globally. This week,
Mortal Kombat II sold 87% as many Blu-ray units as
Obsession, with an HD share of 59% and 25% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Rising up to third place on the Blu-ray-only chart in its fourth week is Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
Michael (2026). Antoine Fuqua's biopic of Michael Jackson, featuring the singer's real-life nephew Jaafar in the title role, opened in April 2026 to largely negative reviews, with many critics contending the film presents a sanitized version of Jackson's life. Audiences, however, largely didn't care and the film enjoyed immense success at the box office, with over $372 million domestically and over $643 million internationally, making
Michael the first biographical film to gross over $1 billion and Jaafar Jackson the first lead actor to debut in a film that grossed over $1 billion. This week,
Michael sold 57% as many Blu-ray units as
Obsession, with an HD share of 54% and 21% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Universal's
American Pie 2, both of which were released on 4K UHD thiis week, came in at Nos. 4 and 10, respectively, on the Blu-ray-only chart, while outside the top ten,
The People vs. Larry Flynt, which saw a 4K UHD upgrade from Arrow Video this week, came in at No. 11 and Decal Releasing's Blu-ray of
Exit 8 debuted at No. 13.
