Blu-ray Sales: July 5-11: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Fends Off The Evil Dead

For the week that ended on July 11th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its fourth week. When The Super Mario Bros. Movie charmed critics and audiences alike, grossing over $1.3 billion in 2023, a sequel was all but assured, and in April 2026, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie debuted in theaters, receiving a tepid critical response, but also making a mint at the box office, taking in over $429 million domestically and over $1.01 billion globally so far. This week, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie had an HD share of 48% and 19% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Coming in second place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Evil Dead. Originally released on 4K UHD by Lionsgate in 2018, Sony's new edition contains Dolby Vision HDR and a choice of DTS-HD MA 5.1 or 2.0 Surround audio tracks, along with a selection of extras. This week, The Evil Dead sold 81% as many Blu-ray units as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 100% of units sold from the 4K UHD format, making it the week's top 4K UHD release.

Coming in third place on the Blu-ray-only chart is the Criterion Collection's The Elephant Man. Criterion presents The Elephant Man in a director-approved edition, with an LPCM 2.0 Stereo audio track and in SDR on the 4K UHD disc, along with Criterion's Blu-ray extras. This week, The Elephant Man sold 56% as many Blu-ray units as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 86% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Elsewhere on the charts, BBC Studios' Blu-ray of Doctor Who: Peter Davison Complete Season Three (1984) came in at No. 4 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while A24's The Drama debuted at No. 10. Outside the top ten, Shout Factory's Dark Shadows (2012), which was released on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 19 .
