Shaw-Shock: Shaw Brothers Horror Collection - Volume Five
(1975-1977). All releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on July 29.
TIGER ON THE BEAT I & II
Tiger on the Beat
Chow Yun-Fat, Nina Li Chi, and Conan Lee star in Tiger on the Beat, a pulse-pounding action classic from director Lau Kar-Leung. When hotshot cop Francis Li gets partnered with loose-cannon Michael Tso, a drug investigation explodes into a city-wide battle for survival, culminating in one of the most jaw-dropping chainsaw duels ever committed to film.
Fast, furious, and fueled by the undeniable chemistry of two of Hong Kong cinema's brightest stars, Tiger on the Beat is essential action filmmaking at its most gloriously unhinged.
Tiger on the Beat II
Director Lau Kar-Leung and star Conan Lee reunited for Tiger On The Beat II, a high-voltage follow-up to the original box-office smash.
Lam, a cop approaching 40 with few accomplishments, tries to find a decent girl for his nephew, Buffalo. However, Buffalo has an eye for 'Sweet Dream', who has accidentally witnessed a murder. The incident gets Lam, Buffalo, and Sweet Dream involved in a ruthless underground arms smuggling ring, and they are forced to fight for their lives and their freedom.
BASTARD SWORDSMAN COLLECTION
Bastard Swordsman
Based on the 1979 TV series Reincarnated, this Shaw Brothers film adaptation broke box office records, packed with vicious swordplay and invigorating rivalry.
Orphan Yun Fei Yang works as a lowly janitor at the Wudang Kung Fu School. While the students torment him, they do not know that at night he is secretly training in swordcraft of his own, with a mysterious masked man. As the once-a-decade fight between the Wudang school and the rival Ru Di Invincible Clan draws closer, Yun becomes an important piece of the puzzle, alongside his love Lun Wan'er, and a mysterious new arrival… This twisted tale of betrayal takes wuxia to the most extreme, culminating in an epic finale that must be seen to be believed.
Return of the Bastard Swordsman
Director Lu Chin-Ku and star Norman Chui Siu-Keung returned for a second slice of wuxia mayhem, with Return of the Bastard Swordsman. Wudang is in trouble again, with both Dugu Wu Di planning to attack the Wudang temple, and an interloping group of martial artists from Japan waiting in the background.
SHAW-SHOCK: SHAW BROTHERS COLLECTION - VOLUME FIVE
Shaw-Shock is back with Volume Five, featuring three kooky fantasy-horror films from the director of The Oily Maniac, Ho Meng-hua:
Black Magic (1975)
Black Magic 2 (1976)
The Mighty Peking Man (1977)
These depraved 70s entries to the vast Shaw Brothers catalogue are oozing with sorcery, graphic violence, and untamed monster madness - beckoning all fans of unhinged Hong Kong cinema to discover them.
Black Magic
Some powers were never meant to be unleashed. In the steaming jungles of Southeast Asia, a dark sorcerer creates a love potion like no other. Filled with nightmarish vintage visual effects and lurid, nauseating potions, this is fearless Shaw Brothers cinema for anyone brave enough to enter.
Black Magic 2
A sinister witch doctor preys on vulnerable people, harvesting the living to fuel his unholy power. When a group of outsiders stumble into his web, survival depends on fighting evil with evil. Dripping with classic Hong Kong horror insanity, director Ho Meng-hua turned up the dial for this no-holds-barred sequel.
The Mighty Peking Man
Deep in the uncharted wilderness of the Himalayas, a creature of impossible size and terrifying power is found by broken-hearted explorer Johnny, alongside Samantha, the sole survivor of a plane crash of years past. An unscrupulous promoter brings the beast back to the mainland for exhibition, but instinct takes over, leading to havoc in Hong Kong. Produced by Shaw Brothers to capture the success of the 1976 remake of King Kong, this ambitious monster film is filled with spectacle and drama.
