I-O Data Announces Slim External 6X Blu-ray Drive

I-O Data has announced that they will release their BRP-US6 Slim External 6X Blu-ray Burner in Japan this month. The USB connected drive, which is based on a Sony Blu-ray computer drive, can read BD-ROM and write to single layer BD-R discs at speeds up to 6X (for dual layer BD-R and all BD-RE media, the top write speed will be 2X).

Additionally, the drive will be able to read and write both DVD (8X) and CD (24X) media. When released in the next few weeks, the drive will measure a svelte 137x154x20mm and includes an AC adapter. Pricing is currently set at ¥29,600 (approx. $340US).
