For the week of October 27th, Shout Factory and GKIDS will release a Blu-ray and 4K UHD for Arcane: Season Two (2024), featuring the voices of Hailee Steinfeld, Harry Lloyd, JB Blanc, Mia Sinclair Jenness, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung.
Description: The award-winning series based on the League of Legends universe reaches its epic conclusion in Arcane: League of Legends Season Two. Following Jinx's devastating attack on the Council, the conflict between utopian Piltover and underground Zaun escalates to all-out war. As both sides grapple with the new threat of the brutal empire of Noxus, further experimentation with the powerful yet volatile Hextech may spell disaster for them all.
Shout and GKIDS' releases of Arcane: Season Two contain all nine episodes across three Blu-ray or 4K UHD discs, with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio on the 4K UHD edition. Extras on a bonus Blu-ray disc include the Inside the Writer's Room featurettes Reshuffling the Cards, Beauty and Tragedy and What Could've Been, three Artist Breakdown featurettes, The Voices In My Head: Crafting the Performances, A Sonic Ballet: Music & Sound, the Episode 7 featurette Going Another Way, an art gallery, music videos and storyboards and animatics.
Note: The 4K UHD release of Arcane: Season Two this week is only available in SteelBook packaging. A Collector's Edition 4K UHD DigiPack will be released on the GKIDS website on December 11th, 2025.
Also from GKIDS and Toho is a 4K UHD upgrade for Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi's Shin Godzilla (シン・ゴジラ) (2016), starring Hiroki Hasegawa, Yutaka Takenouchi, Satomi Ishihara, Takahiro Miura, Pierre Taki and Satoru Matsuo. Sourced from a 4K master, GKIDS presents Shin Godzilla with DTS-HD MA 3.1 audio in the original Japanese or dubbed English, Japanese graphics and optional English, English SDH, French or Spanish subtitles, with HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include promotional video collection, a making of, deleted scenes, outtakes, newsreels, a previs reel collection, previs and special effects outtakes, a visual effects breakdown, teasers and trailers. A Deluxe Collector's Edition adds a Blu-ray for Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic, the black-and-white version of the film, while also coming in digipack packaging. The Deluxe Collector's Edition is exclusive to Toho's Godzilla Store website.
Also coming from Shout is a 4K UHD upgrade for Mike Nichols' Catch-22 (1970), starring Alan Arkin, Martin Balsam, Richard Benjamin, Art Garfunkel, Jack Gilford and Buck Henry. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, Shout presents Catch-22 with DTS-HD MA 2.0 Mono or 5.1 audio tracks and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include a new audio commentary with film critic Drew McWeeny, as well as legacy audio commentary with Mike Nichols and filmmaker Steven Soderbergh and a theatrical trailer.
Finally from Shout is a Blu-ray box set for A Chinese Ghost Story Trilogy (1987-1991), a three-disc set containing A Chinese Ghost Story (1987), A Chinese Ghost Story II (1990) and A Chinese Ghost Story III (1991). All three movies are sourced from new 4K scans of their original camera negatives and presented with a choice of original Cantonese: DTS-HD MA Mono (with optional, newly-translated English subtitles) or an English dub. Extras include new audio commentaries for all three films with James Mudge (Hong Kong Film Critic at easternKicks), the new feature-length documentary A Leslie Cheung Story: Hong Kong's Eternal Icon, new interviews about all three films with author Grady Hendrix and new interviews on the second and third films with author and critic David West. Also included are archival interviews on the second and third films with composer James Wong and image galleries and theatrical trailers for all three films.

New on Blu-ray from Lionsgate Home Entertainment is Dallas Jenkins' The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, starring Judy Greer, Elizabeth Tabish, Kirk B.R. Woller, Pete Holmes, Stephanie Sy and Lauren Cochrane.
Description: The Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, they steal, they bully…and now they've hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Finally from Lionsgate are 4K UHD upgrades for Darren Lynn Bousman's Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006) and Saw IV (2007). Lionsgate presents the R-rated versions of Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV on 4K UHD with Dolby Vision HDR and new Dolby Atmos remixes. New on Blu-ray and 4K UHD from Well Go USA is Yû Irie's Samurai Fury (室町無頼), starring Yo Oizumi, Shin'ichi Tsutsumi, Wakana Matsumoto, Kazuki Kitamura, Yûya Endô and Tomoya Maeno.

Finally for new releases this week, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has two TV releases coming to Blu-ray. The first is The Day of the Jackal: Season One (2024), starring Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, Úrsula Corberó, Sule Rimi, Chukwudi Iwuji and Florisa Kamara.
Description: Based on Frederick Forsyth's acclaimed novel, The Day of The Jackal, follows an elite assassin, known as the Jackal (Eddie Redmayne) as he works towards carrying out a seemingly impossible hit. Sourced from a new 4K master (supervised and approved by Arturo Ripstein), Criterion presents the director's cut of Deep Crimson with Spanish: DTS-HD MA 2.0 Surround audio, optional English subtitles and in SDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include new interviews with Arturo Ripstein and screenwriter Paz Alicia Garciadiego, a new introduction by filmmaker Ari Aster, a panel discussion with Ripstein and Garciadiego at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a trailer. Also from Criterion are new Blu-ray and 4K UHD editions of Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley (2021), starring Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins and Rooney Mara. Previously released in 2022, Criterion presents Nightmare Alley in a new 159-minute black-and-white director's cut: Nightmare Alley: Vision in Darkness and Light, supervised and approved by Guillermo del Toro, with DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio. A second disc includes the original 150-minute color version, with Dolby Atmos audio. On 4K UHD, both come with Dolby Vision HDR. Extras include a new audio commentary on the extended director's cut with Guillermo del Toro, a new introduction to the two cuts by del Toro, a "new documentary on the film's performances, visual language, costume and production design and score", new conversations between del Toro and Bradley Cooper and del Toro and co-screenwriter Kim Morgan, as well as trailers.
