Posted October 18, 2025 08:38 PM by Webmaster

British distributors 88 Films have detailed several upcoming releases. They are: Saga of the Phoenix (1989), Craze (1974), The Hyena (1997), Over Your Dead Body (2014), Crash and Burn (1990), and Don't Open Till Christmas (1984).

Saga of the Phoenix

When an ancient evil stirs once more, monks Peacock (Yuen Biao) and Lucky Fruit (Hiroshi Mikami) are called back into action to confront a new supernatural threat. This time their quest draws them to Hong Kong, where they must protect the innocent and face an unholy alliance of demons and dark sorcery. Alongside them is Ashura (Gloria Yip), still torn between her human heart and her fated link to the underworld, as her powers become the key to either salvation or destruction.

Blending frantic martial arts, grotesque creatures, and wild practical effects, Saga of the Phoenix amps up the chaos of its predecessor with even stranger monsters, surreal comedy, and over-the-top spectacle. Directed by Lam Nai-Choi, this sequel to The Peacock King is a delirious slice of late-1980s Hong Kong/Japanese fantasy cinema—bigger, weirder, and just as unforgettable.

Don't Open Till Christmas

One of the most shocking UK slashers ever made, Don't Open Till Christmas has everything you'd want from a movie set in the most sordid parts of early 80's London. European exploitation favourite Edmund Purdom directs and stars in this infamous nasty which has little seasonal cheer but plenty of blood to go round. It's Christmas time in the East End but someone with a grudge against St Nicholas is killing off anyone dressed as Santa Claus. Can Chief Inspector Harris (Purdom) of Scotland Yard save the day and stop the ever-increasing body count?

Violent with a real mean streak running through it, this is a prime example of British exploitation moviemaking which captures the era perfectly as its filled with peep shows, tinsel and Caroline Monroe belting out a cracker of a tune. An Xmas classic with all the seediest trimmings you could want.
