Severin Films will issue a standard Blu-ray edition of Tonino Ricci's Night of the Sharks (1988), starring Treat Williams, Janet Agren, Antonio Fargas, Stelio Candelli, and Egidio Termine. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on December 9.
Description: Three-time Golden Globe nominee Treat Williams of HAIR and PRINCE OF THE CITY fame took the Italian Sharksploitation plunge in this "insane and weirdly good-natured" (Oh, The Horror!) action thriller, now officially licensed on North American disc for the first time ever: Life in a quiet Mexican fishing village is ripped to pieces when a laidback guide (Williams) and his business partner (Blaxploitation legend Antonio Fargas) become entangled with international assassins, $2 million in diamonds and a local shark named Cyclops with an insatiable hunger for foolish divers. John Steiner (CALIGULA), Janet Agren (EATEN ALIVE) and Christopher Connelly (RAIDERS OF ATLANTIS) in his final film role co-star in this "unique and fun" (DTV Connoisseur) obscurity directed by Tonino Ricci (CAVE OF THE SHARKS) from a screenplay by Tito Carpi (TENTACLES) with jaw-dropping man vs. shark stunts by Ramón Bravo (ZOMBIE) and a deliriously '80s synth score by Stelvio Cipriani (THE GREAT ALLIGATOR), now scanned in 4K from the only known uncut 35mm print and featuring a Bonus Soundtrack CD.
