Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases. Amongst them are: Hard Boiled (1992), A Better Tomorrow Trilogy (1986-1989), Snowden (2016), and Spotlight (2015).
A Better Tomorrow Trilogy 4K Blu-ray
A BETTER TOMORROW (1986)
A death-hardened cop battles the Hong Kong underworld, including his own brother, who joins the bad guys and his former partner in crime. This progenitor of Woo's "heroic violence" films introduces the theme of loyalties between men shattered by a violent world that forces them apart. Only through sacrifice can honor be attained.
A BETTER TOMORROW II (1987)
A genuine Hong Kong firecracker, reuniting John Woo and Tsui Hark, that continues the story of ex-con Sung Tse-Ho (Ti Lung) after his release from prison. Ho is pressured to go undercover to investigate his former mentor, Lung Sei (Dean Shek), for counterfeiting, but he agrees only when he learns his brother, Kit (Leslie Cheung), is also on the case. Lung is framed and flees to New York, where he is rescued from insanity by Ken (Chow Yun-fat), the twin brother of the deceased Mark Lee from the first film. The four men eventually unite to take down the ruthless triad boss responsible for framing Lung and killing his daughter, culminating in a spectacular, extended shootout finale.
A BETTER TOMORROW III (1989): LOVE AND DEATH IN SAIGON
In this prequel to Part I, set in 1974, a young Mark Gor tries to help his father and best friend escape from Vietnam. Mark, not yet the tough guy, meets up with femme fatale Anita Mui, who teaches him how to shoot a gun, among other things. The movie's sense of desperation was undoubtedly heightened by the Tiananmen Square Massacre, which occured just before the start of production. (Summary courtesy of Fredric Dannen).

Hard Boiled 4K Blu-ray
In this genre-defining masterpiece from action legend John Woo (Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2, The Killer), a cop (Chow Yun-Fat, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Killer) who loses his partner in a shoot-out with gun smugglers goes on a mission to catch them. In order to get closer to the leaders of the ring he joins forces with an undercover cop (Tony Leung, In the Mood for Love, Marvel's Shang-Chi) who's working as a gangster hitman. They use all means of excessive force to find them.
