For the week that ended on August 9th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's
Thunderbolts* remained on top of the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its second week. The 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe opened in early May 2025 and naturally, it topped the box office with over $74 million. However, though it saw positive reviews and went on to make over $190 million domestically and over $382 million worldwide, those numbers still put the film in the bottom ten MCU films and behind the earlier 2025 release of
Captain America: Brave New World. This week,
Thunderbolts* had an HD share of 62%, with 19% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to the week's top 4K UHD title, 20th Century Studios'
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Set during the Napoleonic Wars and based on the series of novels by Patrick O'Brian, Peter Weir's 2003 film, starring Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany, was nominated for 10 Oscars (including Best Director and Best Picture) and the 4K UHD release features Dolby Vision HDR and a new Dolby Atmos audio remix, along with SteelBook packaging. This week,
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World sold 45% as many Blu-ray units as
Thunderbolts*, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 100% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Rising up to third place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Sinners (2025). The horror film from director Ryan Coogler, starring Michael B. Jordan in dual roles, opened in April 2025 to critical acclaim and box office success, eventually grossing over $278 million domestically and over $365 million worldwide. This week,
Sinners sold 19% as many Blu-ray units as
Thunderbolts*, with an HD share of 55% and 25% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Shout Factory and GKIDS'
Wolf Children, which was released on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 5 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while outside the top ten, Paramount Home Media Distribution's
Sunset Boulevard and
Better Off Dead, two other 4K UHD upgrades this week, came in at Nos. 14 and 16, respectively. Finally, outside the top ten on the UHD Sellers chart, IFC Films'
Late Night with the Devil 4K came in at No. 19.
