For the week of July 14th, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release Lorcan Finnegan's The Surfer (2025), starring Nicolas Cage, Julian McMahon, Nicholas Cassim, Miranda Tapsell, Alexander Bertrand and Justin Rosniak.
Description: In the psychological thriller directed by Lorcan Finnegan, a man returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. But his desire to hit the waves is thwarted by a group of locals whose mantra is "don't live here, don't surf here." Humiliated and angry, the man is drawn into a conflict that keeps rising in concert with the punishing heat of the summer and pushes him to his breaking point.
Lionsgate's 4K UHD release of The Surfer contains Dolby Atmos audio and Dolby Vision HDR. Extras include audio commentary with Lorcan Finnegan, the featurette Through a Wave Darkly: Making The Surfer and a theatrical trailer.
Also coming from Lionsgate is a Blu-ray for John Carl Buechler's Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College (1991), starring Stephen Lee, Evan MacKenzie, Kevin McCarthy, Eva LaRue, Patrick Labyorteaux and Billy Morrissette. Part of the Vestron Video Collector's Series, Lionsgate presents Ghoulies III with a new audio commentary by film historians T.J. Finally from Lionsgate is a remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for Bill Paxton's Frailty (2001), starring Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey, Powers Boothe, Matt O'Leary, Jeremy Sumpter and Luke Askew. Sourced from a new 4K master, Lionsgate presents Frailty with a new Dolby Atmos audio remix and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. New extras include Father Figure, an Establishing Shot featurette and More Stories from the Frailty Set as well as a teaser and theatrical trailer. Additional extras include audio commentaries with Bill Paxton and writer Brent Hanley, a production audio commentary, an Anatomy of a Scene featurette, a making of, deleted scenes with optional director's commentary, storyboards, a photo gallery and TV spots.
Note: All three Lionsgate releases this week are exclusive to the Lionsgate Limited website, though The Surfer has a Blu-ray edition set for release to retailers on September 9th, 2025.
New on Blu-ray from Arrow Video is Chris Skotchdopole's Crumb Catcher, starring Rigo Garay, Ella Rae Peck, John Speredakos, Lorraine Farris, Rebecca Watson and Eddie Castillo.

Finally for new releases this week, Cohen Media Group has a Blu-ray for Abderrahmane Sissako's Black Tea, starring Nina Melo, Han Chang, Ke-Xi Wu, Michael Chang, Pei-Jen Yu and Wei Huang.

Turning to catalog titles, Kino Lorber has a Blu-ray for Alexander Hall's Exclusive (1937), starring Fred MacMurray, Frances Farmer, Charles Ruggles, Lloyd Nolan, Fay Holden and Ralph Morgan. Kino's Blu-ray contains a new audio commentary by professor / film scholar Jason A. Ney, with Frances Farmer expert Jeffrey Kauffman, who also provided the Blu-ray review.
Coming to remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD from Kino is George Stevens' Shane (1953), starring Alan Ladd, Jean Arthur, Van Heflin, Brandon De Wilde, Jack Palance and Ben Johnson. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, Kino presents Shane with Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include a new audio commentary by author / film historian Alan K. Rode (writer of the forthcoming monograph Shane, A Reel West Series Book, from the University of New Mexico Press), as well as legacy audio commentary by George Stevens Jr. and associate producer Ivan Moffat and a theatrical trailer.
Also from Kino is a Blu-ray release for Judy Irving's documentary The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (2003). Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original 16mm film negative by producer/ director Judy Irving (with the assistance of the Academy Film Archive, Gary Coates, and Sarah Lemarie, CEO of Mickaboo Bird Rescue) Kino's Blu-ray of The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill features legacy audio commentary by Mark Bittner (author of The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill book) as well as updates, outtakes, deleted scenes, an interview, music videos, short films and a theatrical trailer.
Coming to Blu-ray and 4K UHD from the Criterion Collection is a box set for François Truffaut's The Adventures of Antoine Doinel (1959-1979), which includes the 4K UHD premieres of the feature films The 400 Blows (1959), Stolen Kisses (1968), Bed and Board (1970) and Love on the Run (1979), as well as the short film Antoine and Colette (1962). All five films are presented from new 4K masters, with lossless mono audio and in Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD discs in the 4K UHD edition. Extras include Truffaut's short film Les mistons (1957), sourced from a new 4K master and presented with commentary by assistant director Claude de Givray, two audio commentary tracks on The 400 Blows: one with film scholar Brian Stonehill and another with Truffaut's lifelong friend Robert Lachenay, archival interviews with Truffaut and actors Jean-Pierre Léaud, Claude Jade, Marie-France Pisier and co-writers Claude de Givray and Bernard Revon, video essays for Stolen Kisses and Les mistons by film historian Serge Toubiana, Introducing My Father, François Truffaut: Daniel Raim's 2019 interview with Laura Truffaut and trailers. Coming to 4K UHD from Shout Factory is Jimmy T. Murakami's Battle Beyond the Stars (1980), starring Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, George Peppard, John Saxon, Darlanne Fluegel and Sybil Danning. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative, Kino presents Battle Beyond the Stars with a choice of DTS-HD MA 5.1 or 2.0 Stereo audio tracks and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. New extras include the documentary A Universe of Possibilities: Becoming James Horner (featuring new interviews with Sara Horner, film historian Daniel Schweiger, composer David Newman, and author Jeff Bond) and an interview with composer / sound effects creator Alan Howarth. Additional extras include two audio commentaries: one with screenwriter John Sayles and producer Roger Corman and another with production manager Gale Anne Hurd, an interview with Richard Thomas, the featurette Shoestring Space Opera, theatrical trailers, a radio spot and still, poster and production galleries.
Also coming to 4K UHD this week from Shout is a standard packaging release for Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Cracking Collection (1989-2008). Previously released in December 2024 as a Collector's Edition, this new edition drops the feature film Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) on Blu-ray, but retains the four short films on 4K UHD (in SDR) and Blu-ray, as well as Wallace & Gromit's Cracking Contraptions and special features, in standard packaging and at a lower price.
Finally this week, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has a new 4K UHD release for David Ayer's Fury (2014), starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal and Jim Parrack. Sourced from a 4K master, Fury was first released in 2018, but Sony's new edition adds Dolby Vision HDR (the previous release has HDR10), while retaining the Dolby Atmos remix and original DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio tracks. Extras on the new 4K UHD disc include the featurettes No Guts, No Glory: The Horrors of Combat, Tiger 131, Heart of Furyand Clash of Armor, along with theatrical trailers, while a Blu-ray copy of the film includes over 50 minutes of deleted and extended scenes, a director's combat journal, the featurettes Armored Warriors: The Real Men Inside the Shermans, Taming the Beasts: How to Drive, Fire and Shoot Inside a 30-Ton Tank and Blood Brothers, along with a photo gallery.
