French label Coin de mire Cinéma will release on Blu-ray José Giovanni's The Sewers of Paradise a.k.a. Les Égouts du Paradis (1979), starring Francis Huster, Lila Kedrova, Jean-François Balmer, Berangere Bonvoisin, and Gabriel Briand. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on July 1.
Description: A classic French heist film from former gangster-turned-writer and director Jose Giovanni, based on the retelling of the real life events by the thieves' mastermind, Albert Spaggiari.
Francis Huster plays Spaggiari, who organizes a group of gangsters to break into the vault of the Societé Générale Bank in Nice by tunnelling up through the sewers below. The famous theft, which was later dubbed The Great Drain Robbery, netted a haul of over $10 million.
