Warner Home Video has announced 'The Wizard of Oz: Emerald Edition' for release on Blu-ray on December 1. When Victor Fleming's classic was released on September 29, this three-disc, no-frills set was originally a retailer exclusive, available only at Target stores. Now all bricks-and-mortar and Internet retailers will be able to stock it.
As we explained during release week on the
Wizard of Oz buying guide, the Emerald Edition is comprised of three discs, and contains all the disc-based contents from the
Ultimate Collector's Edition, including the six-hour MGM documentary "When the Lion Roars", but not the digital copy, or any of the collectibles.
This edition carries an MSRP of $49.99, or $35 less than the Ultimate Collector's Edition.
