Blu-ray Sales: May 25-31: The Day Captain America Blew Up at Yellowstone

For the week that ended on May 31st, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Yellowstone: Season 5 - Part 2 (2024) topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The Western drama series, which has spawned its own media franchise since it first premiered in 2018, has apparently concluded with this three-disc release of six episodes. Notably, the show is one of the few new television releases to receive a healthy assortment of extras, with Paramount touting over two hours of bonus content for the release, some of which is exclusive to disc. This week, Yellowstone: Season 5 - Part 2 had an HD share of 23%. No 4K UHD releases are currently available for the series.

Dropping to second place on both charts in its third week is Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Captain America: Brave New World. The 35th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe opened in February 2025 to mixed reviews, and while it found success at the box office to the tune of $200 million domestic and $415 million worldwide, those totals are still underwhelming for Marvel and far from the brand's billion-dollar-plus pre-pandemic successes. This week, Captain America: Brave New World sold 89% as many Blu-ray units as Yellowstone: Season 5 - Part 2, with an HD share of 58% and 21% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Debuting in third place on both charts is Ketchup Entertainment's The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie. Billed as "the first fully-animated feature-length film in Looney Tunes history", the movie was originally produced at Warner Bros. Animation for a digital and TV release, but in 2022, restructuring at Warner Bros. Discovery changed those plans and while Warner Bros. did release the film theatrically in Germany and Switzerland in 2024, the film's North American rights were sold off and acquired by Ketchup Entertainment, who, despite being much smaller than Warner Bros., still managed to get the film into theaters in March 2025, where it saw good reviews and made over $8 million domestically, in addition to over $15 million globally so far. This week, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie sold 68% as many Blu-ray units as Yellowstone: Season 5 - Part 2, with a strong HD share of 70%. A 4K UHD release is not currently available.

Elsewhere on the charts, Disney and 20th Century Studios' Kingdom of Heaven, which was released on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 4 on the Blu-ray-only chart, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Outlander: The Complete Seventh Season (2023-2024) debuted at No. 6 , while Shout Factory and GKIDS' The Colors Within debuted at No. 8 and Sony's Starman (1984), which was released on standalone 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 10. Outside the top ten, the Criterion Collection's double feature The Three Musketeers / The Four Musketeers: Two Films by Richard Lester (1973-1974) came in at No. 15 and Well Go USA's The Prosecutor (2024) debuted at No. 19.

Elsewhere on the UHD Sellers chart, Kino Lorber's releases of Kingpin 4K (1996) and Wayne's World 2 4K came in at Nos. 5 and 7, respectively, while Shout Factory's Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow 4K and Scent of a Woman 4K (1992) came in at Nos. 8 and 11, respectively.
