Blu-ray Sales: May 4-10: Lilo & Stitch Tops the Charts Ahead of Live-action Remake

For the week that ended on May 10th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Lilo & Stitch (2002) topped both the Blu-ray-only and the UHD Sellers charts for the week. Released to coincide with the theatrical release of Disney's live-action remake, the original animated version of Lilo & Stitch had an HD share of 94%, with 94% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Rising to second place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Toho's Godzilla: Minus One. Toho's 33rd Godzilla film was a smash hit both in Japan and internationally, grossing as much as $116 million worldwide (on a reported budget of between $10-15 million) and going on to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, becoming the first non-English-language film to win that award. This week, Godzilla: Minus One sold 99% as many Blu-ray units as Lilo & Stitch, with an HD share of 86% and 73% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

And returning to the top three Blu-rays is Paramount Home Media Distribution's Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The third film in the series, (which was announced before Sonic the Hedgehog 2 even released in 2022) finds the iconic SEGA character facing off with the mysterious villain Shadow the Hedgehog. It opened in December 2024 to both positive reviews and box office success, eventually grossing over $236 million domestically and over $492 million worldwide. This week, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 sold 88% as many Blu-ray units as Lilo & Stitch, with an HD share of 39% and 39% of units sold from the 4K UHD combo pack format.

Elsewhere on the charts, Shout Factory's What Lies Beneath came in at No. 13 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while on the UHD Sellers chart, the Criterion Collection's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 4K came in at No. 18.
