For the week that ended on May 3rd, the Criterion Collection's
Anora topped the Blu-ray-only chart in its debut. Sean Baker's latest film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 and won the Palme d'Or. After it was released in the United States in October 2024, the film continued to gain awards traction, ultimately receiving six Oscar nominations and winning five, including Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress for Mikey Madison, Best Director and Best Picture. The film also found success at the box office, where, on a budget of just $6 million, the film has grossed over $20 million domestically and over $59 million worldwide. This week,
Anora had an HD share of 85%, with 58% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Debuting in second place is Legacy Recordings' Blu-ray of
Pink Floyd: At Pompeii MCMLXXII. The 1972 concert film was remastered in 4K from the original 35mm film and presented in two versions, as a feature film (with a Dolby Atmos audio option) or as a concert only with high-resolution 96 kHz/24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1 or LPCM 2.0 audio tracks. This week,
Pink Floyd: At Pompeii MCMLXXII sold 96% as many Blu-ray units as
Anora, with an HD share of 91%.
And coming in third place is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Dirty Harry. The classic action film was part of a trio of Clint Eastwood films Warner released on 4K UHD this week, the other two being
The Outlaw Josey Wales and
Pale Rider, all of which were remastered and presented with HDR and a choice of a new Dolby Atmos remix or original DTS-HD MA 2.0 Mono audio (or Stereo for
Pale Rider) as well as both new and legacy bonus features. This week,
Dirty Harry sold 74% as many Blu-ray units as
Anora, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 100% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Blu-ray of
Paddington in Peru debuted at No. 8 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while Shout Factory's
Timecop (1994), which was released on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 9 and Paramount Home Media Distribution's
Star Trek: Section 31 debuted at No. 10.
Elsewhere on the UHD Sellers chart, Sony's standalone 4K UHD releases of
Stripes 4K and
Gandhi 4K, both of which sport new HDR grading with Dolby Vision and SteelBook packaging, came in at Nos. 13 and 17, respectively.
