For the week that ended on April 19th, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The third film in the series, (which was announced before Sonic the Hedgehog 2 even released in 2022) finds the iconic SEGA character facing off with the mysterious villain Shadow the Hedgehog. It opened in December 2024 to both positive reviews and box office success, eventually grossing over $236 million domestically and over $491 million worldwide. Needless to say, a fourth film is already in the works and set for release in 2027. This week, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 had an HD share of 54%, with 54% of units sold from the 4K UHD combo pack format.

Debuting in second place is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League. The anime sequel to Batman Ninja (2018) is the latest in a long line of direct-to-video adaptations of DC Comics characters. This week, Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League sold just 18% as many Blu-ray units as Sonic the Hedgehog 3, with a strong HD share of 68% but unfortunately, only 1% of units sold were from the 4K UHD format.

Remaining in third place on the Blu-ray-only chart in its third week is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Blu-ray of DreamWorks' Dog Man. The animated adaptation of the children's book series, (a spin-off from the Captain Underpants series) opened in January 2025 to positive reviews and box office success, grossing over $97 million and over $140 million worldwide so far. This week, Dog Man sold 16% as many Blu-ray units as Sonic the Hedgehog 3, with an HD share of 38%. While Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie was released on 4K UHD by DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox in 2017, Universal has not made a 4K UHD edition of Dog Man available at this time.

Elsewhere on the charts, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Heart Eyes debuted at No. 10 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while outside the top ten, Kino Lorber's Donovan's Reef which was released on both Blu-ray and 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 19. Elsewhere on the UHD Sellers chart, the Criterion Collection's Chungking Express 4K came in at No. 7, while Kino's Sands of Iwo Jima 4K came in at No. 11.
